My first psychotherapy office was opened in 1994 and, since then, I have been in private practice treating men, women, adolescents, couples, families and groups.
I am both a licensed mental health counselor and a certified chemical dependency specialist level II. I specialize in several areas of treatment. Among them:
• addictions
• dual diagnoses
• men's and women's issues
• trauma recovery
• relationship issues
• loss and grief
• as well as depression, anxiety and adjustment disorders.
I use a broad and eclectic range of therapeutic modalities from brief therapy as well as longer term psychodynamic, insight-oriented methods.
Currently, I hold a professional membership with the Center for Object Relations, Seattle, Washington, and participate in trainings with them and the Seattle Psychoanalytic Society as I am able. I recently completed a year long research training in infant observation and am currently taking a course entitled Couple Therapy: How Individuation Provides Opportunities for a Renewed Relationship.
I am also a County-designated Mental Health Professional providing emergency mental health evaluations and psychiatric hospitalizations both voluntary and involuntary for individuals in Whatcom County.
My education includes two Masters Degrees, one in Psychology and another in Theater, and a BA in Philosophy and Art. I became certified in Chemical Dependency through the Nothrwest Indian Drug and Alcohol Certification Board.
